Ephesians 5:1-2 NLT  Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. ² Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

As a child growing up, I remember a game called, “follow the leader”.  There was one leader and the followers would follow whatever action that the leader did.  As a follower we did not question what the leader was doing, but we paid close attention so that we could mimic everything that the leader did.

In Paul’s letter to the believers at Ephesus, he encouraged them to follow the example that Jesus taught on love.  The love that Jesus taught was unconditional.  Jesus loved us so much that he sacrificed his life on the cross for our sins.  In Romans 5:8 it says that:  But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners (NLT).

As followers of Christ our actions and ways should mimic Christ, and we should strive to love others unconditional.  This love should be a part of our daily life and demonstrated regardless of whether we feel others deserve it or not.  God loves us and we should love others.
